During the exchange some students especially girls, expressed their fear of engaging in technology based professions, fears which stem from stereotypes that tech based fields are too complex and only suitable for men. To address these misconceptions, project facilitators Kang Herbert – CompTIA Certified expert and Tata Thierry – Software Engineer, made the students understand that girls were more than able to take on complex tech positions, citing a good number of female role models. They added that not all tech careers specifically require a science background.

The program will then move into practical laboratory sessions on Wednesday January 21st ,2026, where these learners will gain introductory experience in various tech programs . These activities are designed to spark creativity and build confidence through experiential learning.

TI4DEV is currently working with three schools in the southwest region (BGS Molyko, CCC Muea and GBHS Bokwango) to provide orientation on Tech and STEM careers through TECH CLUBS. The organisation’s goal is to help young people find direction in an industry often affected by ignorance, misinformation and cultural stereotypes that discourage many from exploring technology related professions.
