A total of 63 students — comprising 28 girls and 35 boys — from Government High School Bokwango successfully completed a hands-on graphic design training session, culminating in the creation of Valentine’s Day cards.

The step-by-step training session took place in the school’s computer laboratory on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Using Microsoft Publisher, students learned how to create a new document, select templates, customize layouts, insert images and graphics, and properly align design elements to produce professional-looking cards. The session was facilitated by Mr. Kang Herbert of TI4Dev, who guided students through practical demonstrations that resulted in impressive final designs.

Over the course of the two-hour intensive session, students from Forms 1, 2, 3, and 5, as well as Lower and Upper Sixth classes, received personalized assistance to ensure that every participant successfully completed the exercise. The activity was highly appreciated by the students, many of whom expressed enthusiasm and eagerness to learn more digital skills.

This training forms part of ongoing efforts to equip young learners with practical technology skills. Organized by the non-governmental organization Technology Initiative for Development (TI4Dev), the program seeks to nurture future technology leaders through hands-on learning opportunities.

Through its flagship program dubbed “Champions of Tech,” TI4Dev aims to train students from three schools across the Southwest Region of Cameroon, particularly in and around Buea, exposing them to diverse STEM career paths through school-based Tech Clubs.

By introducing students early to digital skills such as graphic design, the initiative continues to empower young people with competencies needed to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.
